Numerology is the mystical study of numbers and how they relate to your inner self, your life path, and your soul’s purpose. This guide walks you through the five most commonly used personal numerology numbers, calculated from your birth date (day, month and 4 digit year) and full birth name.
Life Path Number
Your Life Path number reflects the core lessons and themes of your life. It’s considered one of the most important numbers in numerology.
Formula:
Add all the digits in your birthdate: month + day + full year. Reduce the total to a single digit unless the number is a Master Number (11, 22, or 33), which should be kept as is.
Example:
Birthdate: September 26, 2025
9 + 2 + 6 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 5 = 26
2 + 6 = 8
Life Path Number = 8
Birth Number
Also called your Day Number, this number reveals talents, characteristics, and traits that are naturally yours from birth.
Formula:
Reduce just the day of your birth to a single digit. If your birth day is 11 or 22, it remains a Master Number.
Example:
Born on the 26th
2 + 6 = 8
Birth Number = 8
Soul Urge Number
This number represents your inner world. What you truly desire, what motivates you, and what you are drawn to at a soul level.
Formula:
Assign numbers to the vowels in your full name at birth using the Pythagorean system (chart below), then add them together. Reduce to a single digit unless the result is 11, 22, or 33.
Vowel Values:
A = 1, E = 5, I = 9, O = 6, U = 3
(Y may be treated as a vowel depending on its placement and pronunciation.)
Personality Number
This number reflects how others see you; this is your outward expression and the first impression you make.
Formula:
Assign numbers to the consonants in your full birth name, using the same chart, and reduce the total to a single digit unless it is 11, 22, or 33.
Destiny Number
This number reveals your overall potential, your talents, and the path you are likely to walk in this life.
Formula:
Assign numbers to every letter in your full name at birth. Add them all together and reduce to a single digit unless you reach a Master Number.
